October 2022
October may make you think of jack-o-lanterns and Hocus Pocus but there’s so much more to the tenth month than just goblins, ghouls, and the Sanderson Sisters. October has so much to celebrate. Not only do we get a free candy day, its also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. In 2010, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. That year I walked the Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60 mile walk. This cause is near and dear to my heart. I know too many people who have gone through this battle.
Did you know Heart2Heart Knitting customer's knit & crochet Knitted Knockers for local medical facilities. These Knockers are made out of designated cotten yarns, stuffed, and then given away freely, with no charge to the patients. If you have not seen the story behind how the Knitted Knockers originated, check out this link: https://www.knittedknockers.org/
Barbara Demorest is the phenomanal lady behind the Knitted Knocker. When I worked Vogue in Bellevue this past April, I was blessed to meet this wonderful woman! Boy, does she have a story to tell, and it is amazing!
Anyway, check out the website, and if you are ever interested in knitting or crocheting Knockers, just pop in and let us know. We can get you set up with patterns and show you the yarns. They do ask that approved (by the foundation) yarns be used.
Moving on, this month is going to be so much fun! We have The Love Note KAL to check in on, (ends 10/31), & many new "fall" yarns coming in almost daily.
At the beginning of November, we will be starting a new KAL, and possibly a CAL (crochet-a-long) in January!
We are also bringing real classes back to the shop. Read on to see what is in store!
I hope your month of October and the beginning of fall is filled with love, blessings, and joy!
