Nordic Mittens by Beth Brown-Reinsel
These mittens follow the classic style of the two-color Selbu mittens of nineteenth-century Norway: a corrugated ribbing, large star motif (known in Norway as an “eight blade rose,” pointed tips, designated seam stitches, and a different small motif worked on the palm, thumb gussets, and thumb; The many colors used in this pair give the mittens the rich look of tapestry, yet only the background colors change during knitting.
