AC-82 Ruffles & Ridges Shawl

Fiber Trends Pattern AC82
Design by Joanne Clark
Edged with a sassy ruffle and featuring extra long "ties", both sizes can be worn in many ways.
A simple pattern of 3 rows of stockinette alternating with 3 rows of reverse stockinette creates the ridge pattern.
Sizes:
Instructions are given for 2 sizes.
This pattern is easily adjusted for other sizes or other weights of yarn.
Small: 17" (43cm) deep and 70" (178cm) wide at top edge.
Large: 21" (53cm) deep and 102" (259cm) wide at top edge.
Gauge: 13 sts = 4" (10cm)
Yarn Requirements:
Approximately 450 (850) yards (411 (777) meters) of DK or worsted yarn that will knit loosely to the gauge given.
Naturally Yarns Used: Large shawl is shown in JJ's Handpainted Montage 100% wool 8 ply (DK).
Small red shawl is in Sensation (70% wool, 30% angora).
Needles:
US size 9 (5.5 mm) circular needle at least 40" (100 cm) long.
Shawl is worked back and forth in rows. The circular needle is required to accommodate the number of stitches for the ruffle. You may change to a shorter circular once the stitch count is reduced sufficiently.
